About Detachment 150 @ University of Florida
Air Force ROTC at the University of Florida trains and commissions Air Force Officers who go on to become Pilots, Navs, Intelligence Officers, Space and Missile Operators, Security Forces, Office of Special Investigations Officers and over 100 other career fields. Detachment 150 is a two time winner of the Air Force's Outstanding Unit Award.
Best Medium-Size Detachment
In the Fall 2007 and Fall 2009, Det 150 won the High Flight Award for the Southeast Region, which recognizes the region's #1 detachment. This allowed us to compete with all other Air Force ROTC region winners. Shortly thereafter, we won the the Right Of Line Award for being the #1 medium-size Detachment in the Nation! That makes us #1 of 56 medium-sized detachments and in the top 3 of all 144 detachments nationwide. Not to be forgotten, this feat was again accomplished in Fall 2009 making Detachment 150 a two time winner of the Right of Line Award. Field Training Awards
Our cadets excelled at Field Training during the summer of 2008. We had 1 Top Gun Award winner, 2 Distinguished Graduates, 2 Warrior Spirit Awards, 2 Physical Fitness Awards, and 6 of 11 cadets finished with top-third ranking. We have already started Field Training Preparation for our 30+ talented sophomore class and anticipate another award winning group we can all be proud of.
These awards are indicative of the quality program at the University of Florida and highlight the talent and dedication of our instructors, staff and our cadets. This outstanding performance manifests itself in other ways: increased opportunities for our cadets. The University of Florida boasts one of the highest pilot selection rates in the nation - 91% in the year 2008!
